MACABEBE – Free bibingka (rice cake) from the municipal is being given to the people who attend the Simbang Gabi to encourage other residents to be more interested with the night mass.

The said project was annually being done by the municipality of the city since Mayor Annette Balgan was elected.

"She wanted people to have fellowship with each other after every mass that is why she is giving away free bibingkas and people do expect it because it has been a tradition," said Municipal Administrator Jomel Cruz.

He also added that the 50 to 70 rice cakes that will be given to the residents in this year’s Simbang Gabi was funded by Balgan herself.

Bibingka is a seasonal food in the Philippines during Christmas along with Puto Bumbong and are usually being sold near the churches during the traditional Simbang Gabi.
